Welcome to Fleetwood and District Choral Society!

Please read about who we are and what we do. If you enjoy singing, come along and join in a rehearsal to see what it's like!

We are a friendly and welcoming choir based in Fleetwood Lancashire and aim to provide an environment where all interested singers can be part of a large group performing major choral works. The Fleetwood & District Choral Society was established in 1969 and has become a well known group in the Fylde and North West.

We currently have 70 members singing standard SATB parts and perform 2 major concerts each year with an invited professional orchestra and soloists, at the Marine Hall, Fleetwood where we have performed a wide range of works. Our last concert was held at the Marine Hall on Saturday 3rd December where we were joined by Sylvan Sound (www.sylvansound.co.uk) to celebrate Fleetwood's 175th anniversary. We performed Part One of Handel's Messiah and Parry's Blest pair of Sirens and I was Glad. Sylvan Sound joined us in the Parry and also sang Britten's Ceremony of Carols. We were accompanied by the North West Sinfonia and the soloists were Catriona Hewitson, Anna Harvey, Michael Boe and Jonathan Ainscough. Michael Boe also performed 2 solo pieces.  The concert was well attended with very few empty seats in the house!
The Blackpool North MP, Paul Maynard, who is a patron of the Choral Society, attended the concert and posted his thoughts on his website:
"Last but not least, I rounded off my week with a magnificent evening at Fleetwood’s Marine Hall with the Fleetwood & District Choral Society who performed a section of Handel’s Messiah, with some superb soloists, alongside the Northwest Sinfonia and fellow local choir Sylvan Sound. If you haven’t been to see Fleetwood & District Choral Society, you really ought to do so as they are magnificent. Have a look at their website, www.fleetwoodchoral.org.uk
, and put 12th May in your diary, as that is their next concert when they will be performing Vivaldi’s Gloria and Rutter’s Requiem along with a range of solo pieces yet to be announced. I am delighted to be one of their patrons, and they are the sort of ‘unsung local heroes and heroines’ that don’t always get the attention their hard work deserves."

We are now rehearsing for our May Concert which will include Vivaldi's Gloria and Rutter's Requiem. See the Concert page for details.
